Savory Crackers – Gluten free & Vegan

These crackers are delicious, healthy and extremely easy to make with easy clean up. No mixer required – consider giving it a try!

INGREDIENTS (1 serving):

  • 45g cassava flour
  • 6g whole flax seeds
  • 1/8 tsp fine salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp cream of tartar*
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 20g olive oil
  • 27g cold filtered water

*you can substitute cream of tartar with baking powder

METHOD:

  1. Preheat oven to 300F/150C.
  2. In a large bowl, add dry ingredients: cassava flour, flax seeds, salt, garlic powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and dried oregano. Mix.
  3. Add olive oil and water into the dry ingredients.
  4. Use a spatula to mix the ingredients until a dough ball is formed.
  5. On large piece of parchment paper, shape the dough ball into a flat square.
  6. Place another piece of parchment paper on top.
  7. Use a rolling pin and roll it out until its 1/8 inch thick.
  8. Discard the top parchment paper.
  9. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut into 1 inch squares.
  10. Slide the parchment paper with the cut squares onto a baking tray.
  11. Bake for 35-40 mins in a preheated oven.
  12. Let it cool – the crackers should easily crack into 1 inch square crackers.
  13. Ready to eat!

These crackers make a great snack or pairs well with soup.
