But I typically use dried bonito flakes &#8211; beautiful flavor. Bonito is also known as skip jack tuna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I turn to this when I need to detox or lose weight &#8211; for it makes me full yet not a lot of calories \ud83e\udd2d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh yes &#8211; gluten-free, egg-free and soy free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INGREDIENTS (4 servings):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>~18 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sensitiveskinlifestyle.com\/blog\/gluten-free-egg-free-meat-balls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gluten free &amp; egg free boiled meat balls<\/a><\/li><li>12 garlic cloves, peeled<\/li><li>8 brown crimini mushrooms, rinsed<\/li><li>4 green onion stalks, washed <\/li><li>4 nappa cabbage leaves, washed<\/li><li>4 bunches of baby bok choy, washed<\/li><li>1 carrot, peeled and washed<\/li><li>1 thick slice of fresh peeled ginger <\/li><li>250g daikon radish, peeled<\/li><li>5g dried bonito flakes &#8211; see Photo A below<\/li><li>2 tbsp salt<\/li><li>Salt to taste<\/li><li>Optional: 1 pack of konjac noodles<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>METHOD:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cut carrots into 1\/4 inch thick, biased cut slices.<\/li><li>Cut daikon into 1\/2 inch thick rounds. Then quarter them.<\/li><li>Cut nappa cabbage leaves into 1 inch squares.<\/li><li>Cut green onions into 2 inch sections. Separate white parts from green parts &#8211; see Photo B below.<\/li><li>Bring 3.5 litres of water to a boil in a large pot.<\/li><li>When boiling, add 2 tbsp salt, ginger slice and bonito flakes.<\/li><li>Boil for 15 mins. Then pour the broth through a fine mesh strainer into a large pot. Add the ginger slice into the broth. Discard the bonito flakes.<\/li><li>Bring to a boil.<\/li><li>Add cooked meat balls. Boil 5 mins, remove any scum.<\/li><li>Add carrot, garlic, mushrooms, daikon and white parts of the green onion into the soup.<\/li><li>Cover pot with lid and simmer over medium heat for 30 mins.<\/li><li>Add nappa cabbage, baby bok choy and remaining green onion pieces. Boil 3 mins.<\/li><li>Add salt to taste.<\/li><li>Portion out cooked konjac noodles into serving bowls. Then add soup and its ingredients over it. <\/li><li>Ready to serve. This broth is packed with flavor + nutrients, remember to drink it all\ud83e\udd63<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>How to cook konjac noodles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rinse konjac noodles under cold running water for 2 mins.<\/li><li>Add konjac noodles and enough cold water to cover it into a pot.<\/li><li>Bring to a boil.
